Privacy policy
Last updated 30 September 2026
This policy covers the Remove BG Chrome extension and the Remove BG website. Both remove image backgrounds entirely on your device. Your images are never uploaded, and there are no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking.
What we collect
Nothing. We don't collect, store, sell or share your images or any personal data.
Chrome extension
- Your images are processed by an AI model running in your browser. They never leave your device.
- Web pages. To show the Remove BG button, the extension checks whether the mouse pointer is over an image on the page you're viewing. It doesn't read, record or send anything else on the page.
- Images you choose (with the button or the right-click menu) are downloaded from the website that hosts them, straight to your device, so their background can be removed.
- Network requests. After you install it, the extension downloads its AI model once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). That request contains nothing about you or your images. The extension never contacts us.
- Stored on your device: the AI model, whether its download has finished, and your on/off setting for the image button. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs that setting between your browsers. Removing the extension deletes all of it.
Website
- Your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
- Network requests. Your browser loads the site from our host, Vercel, which like any web host receives standard request details such as your IP address. The first time you remove a background, your browser also downloads the AI model from Hugging Face and the ONNX Runtime engine from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net). None of these requests contain your images.
- No cookies, analytics or tracking scripts.
